Proteco Q60 - FH error then close after opening

Hi, I've got a Proteco Q60 dual swing gate controller. I recently had a problem where the power supply was cut to the closing photocell transmitter.   I repaired it today and the LED now goes back to '--' as expected. When I sent a close signal by linking 1-8 for a second, the LED goes to Go and the gate opens/closes as expected. However about 3-4 seconds after the gate fully opens/closes, I see FH appear momentarily on the LED, and then the gate does the reverse action.

I've tried removing all external devices and shorting the basic links (2-8, 4-9, 3-9) and testing manually by touching 1-8. Same issue - so I don't believe it's anything to do with the photocell circuit or any external switches.

Can anybody give me any indications as to what might be causing this error? The manual just says that FH is dual opening/closing photocell interruption or wiring error, but as it happens even when I have jumpers across 4-9 and 3-9 I don't believe that's the issue.
