BFT gate cannot add new transmitters help

I have a BFT auto gate and is about 7 years old and want to add new remotes but it will not let me do it, it has the ALPHA circuit board, I have been intouch with BFT and they have suggested I buy a new receiver to add the the original board, a CLONIX 2 is this the best way to go?
