Hi,
Great forum, thanks in advance for any help.
Currently have an above ground, single arm installation for a 10ft wooden 5 bar gate. It has an electric locking mechanism added. It is a domestic gate, probably opened/closed on average 4 times per day.
This is now no longer working, and a replacement is needed, the reason for replacement rather than fixing is for the following reasons:
The time has come for a new gate plus a new opening to be installed. The gate size will be the same in length.
We have another gate with the same mechanism on which does suffer the same issue but far less frequently, I am loathed to change it due to cost, so would require the new gate mechanism and the second gate to be opened on keyfobs with 2 buttons, as we currently have.
Apologies if the correct terminology hasn't been used!

This is now no longer working, and a replacement is needed, the reason for replacement rather than fixing is for the following reasons:
- A very rural setting and subject to inclement weather! When windy the gate will not fully open or sometimes not even open at all
- The arm mechanism has been damaged on a number of times when the gate half opens and the wind catches it
The time has come for a new gate plus a new opening to be installed. The gate size will be the same in length.
- The above issues will need to be sorted so I am presuming a more powerful motor is required (the previous one was specifically for the size but the weather issue was not taken into account I think)
- Is it wise to order a heavier gate?
- A locking mechanism is required again
- Standard key fob access required unless suggestions otherwise
We have another gate with the same mechanism on which does suffer the same issue but far less frequently, I am loathed to change it due to cost, so would require the new gate mechanism and the second gate to be opened on keyfobs with 2 buttons, as we currently have.
