Hi,

Can anyone advise what cable I need to run from the control unit to the motor. It seems to say in the instructions 4 x 1.5mm for the power, 3 x 0.5mm for the encoder and 2 x 1mm for the Photocell Transmitter.

I understand the cable for the Photocell, but does the arm really need 2 separate cables, or can it be a single 7 core cable?

I would recommend following the manual in this instance. They state as you mentioned a 3 core cable 1.5mm2 for the power cables and 3 core cable 0.5mm2 for the encoders for the 40ME, the encoder cable most likely needs that smaller CSA of cable for communication reasons as it is mostly like data/pulses travelling through that cable.
