Hi all,
I’ve got a 2-leaf swing gate running on a SEAV LRX-2186 controller (230V motors). Since the colder weather started I’m seeing a strange problem and I’d really appreciate some pointers before I decide whether to replace the board.
Symptom
Because:

Thanks in advance for any help or hints!
I’ve got a 2-leaf swing gate running on a SEAV LRX-2186 controller (230V motors). Since the colder weather started I’m seeing a strange problem and I’d really appreciate some pointers before I decide whether to replace the board.
Symptom
- In the morning, when I send an OPEN command:
- First leaf starts to open a little, then stops.
- Sometimes it will try again, move a bit more, and stop again.
- First leaf starts to open a little, then stops.
- Around 09:00 and later in the day the problem is mostly gone and the gate behaves normally.
- This started only recently; it used to work fine.
- Photocell / safety bypass
- On CN2 I bridged terminals 8–9–10 (as per manual) so the photocell/safety input is disabled.
- I removed power from the photocell completely.
- I also disconnected power from an RTU5024 GSM unit I had connected, so right now it’s literally just:
- LRS-2150 controller
- Motors
- Mains supply
- LRS-2150 controller
- Issue STILL happens in this “bare” configuration.
- On CN2 I bridged terminals 8–9–10 (as per manual) so the photocell/safety input is disabled.
- Motor output voltage
- When the gate starts moving normally I measure about 230 V AC on the motor output terminals.
- When it does the “opens a bit then stops” thing and gets stuck mid-open, I measure only ~2–3 V AC on the motor output.
- So it looks like the controller is cutting power to the motor completely (2–3 V looks like leakage, not real power).
- When the gate starts moving normally I measure about 230 V AC on the motor output terminals.
- Reset and learning
- I did a full reset / re-learning procedure from the manual.
- During the learn cycle the controller drives the motors through the full travel and that process completes successfully.
- After learning is done, when I send a normal OPEN command, the old problem comes back: gate starts, moves a little, then stops and I see ~2–3 V at the motor output.
- I did a full reset / re-learning procedure from the manual.
- Photocell definitely not the cause
- Because 8–9–10 are bridged, photocell has no power, and RTU is disconnected, I’m assuming the controller is not seeing a safety input any more.
- The behaviour is exactly the same with or without the photocell connected.
- Because 8–9–10 are bridged, photocell has no power, and RTU is disconnected, I’m assuming the controller is not seeing a safety input any more.
Because:
- Motors can clearly move the gate during learning,
- Problem persists with all external stuff removed,
- Voltage at the motor output is cut by the board when it stops,
- Current-sense circuit or force-limit circuit thinking there is an overcurrent/obstacle and shutting the triac off,
- Low-voltage PSU / electrolytic capacitors sagging under load (worse when cold),
- Some weird parameter or EEPROM corruption where normal mode is applying a much stricter limit than the learn cycle.
- Does this failure pattern sound familiar on LRX-2186 boards?
- Are there known weak components on this board (e.g. PSU caps, shunt resistor, triacs) that typically cause:
- learn OK,
- normal run stops almost immediately?
- learn OK,
- From your experience, is it worth asking an electronics tech to recap / repair the board, or is it usually more economical to just fit a replacement board (LRX-2186 New / similar)?
