Hello all.
I've been successfully self maintaining my Nice Gate setup for around 15 years now.
We have 2 swing gates using XME2024 and recently the later SFAB2024 motors and an MCA2 controller board.
We have 1 set of sensors.
I'm in a very wet climate and so have to regularly check the underground boxes for drainage blockages but they never seem particularly submerged.
I've noticed that my motors are failing around every 18 to 24 months and as much as I'm replacing and getting back to normal, I don't think this is a reasonable service life.
So the first question is:
My next question is:
I'm pretty sure I should be getting 5 - 10 years out of these motors but I could be wrong.
I have been tempted to factory reset the whole thing and start afresh just to be sure - but I'd rather be doing that in warmer weather so will wait for spring.
Everything is very-well sealed and water tight; this has been a war against water and bugs!
Any suggestions or diags guides would be absolutely awesome.
Thanks in advance, Jay

So the first question is:
- Does anybody have or know a reasonable guide for motor diagnostics - including a strip-down and replace capacitors etc.. I'm reasonably able but just need a guide to help me in the right direction. I'm trying to work out if my last 2 failed motors have failed for the same reason (I kept them). This would be a bench diagnostic as they are both out of the ground.
My next question is:
- Given this is happening often enough, are there things I should be looking at on my board that could cause surges etc.. I appreciate these are older controllers and so there's a good possibility something on them is failing.
- I'm noticing that generally one fails and the gates then stop working together (and if I disconnect the failed leaf, the other will open but not close - I'm assuming they won't close because the controller can't sense the broken gate's current resistance).
- Once replace the motor all comes back as expected.
