Fadini 740 pair wont stay closed
#1
Hi.

I have a pair of gates operated by 2 x fadini 740 closers. The 1st closing leaf closes tight against the centre stop and stays tight to it. The second leaf then closes against the first, and is also initially tight on the centre stop.

Recently the second leaf has been loosening up overnight, so that a 10cm gap may be there in the morning. I'm of the opinion that a hydraulic valve must be leaking as the pressure created on closing must be reducing and the leaf is then not remaining fully locked up.

Any ideas on how you would go about checking this theory and how you might fix it, or am I missing some easier checks that I should be carrying out first.

cheers

Hi,

If the gates are not holding the pressure at the end of their travel i would suspect either there is a lack of hydraulic oil or their is definitely a leak on the motor. How old is the system?

System is about 6 years old I think. There is a hydraulic oil reservoir cap, so I can try topping that up, what grade of hydraulic oil is the norm for these motors?

If its the motor itself, are they serviceable?
