StarG8 24: left leaf not moving
#1
Hey, so I have a 2-leaf gate with a StarG8 24 control unit.

Problem is that the left leaf stopped moving after a snow fall. This happened before, and the last time the professional I called fixed it with a reprogramming and told me I could just DIY next time.

So I looked up the manualĀ https://king-gates.com/wp-content/upload..._24_UK.pdf
And found what seemed the relevant page:

I do step 1-3 and then the right leaf does step 4-6. Left leaf doesn't budge. Then nothing more happens and the "set" LED stays on.

Any ideas?

I can unlock the left leaf and move it by hand, so it's not physically stuck.

Hi,

The first thing I would try is switch the motor connectors on the control board around so motor 1 goes to motor 2 and motor 2 goes to motor 1, and see if the problem continues with the same motor or now moves to motor 2 after doing the procedure you did previously. I have attached an image of what you need to switch around. You should be able to just pull out the connectors and switch them around.

Kind regardsĀ

Prem

Great idea. I did that but still only the right leaf moved when I tried the basic programming.

If the same motor issue persists, it could be the motor itself or the cables connecting it to the control board. First, power off the system completely for safety, inspect all connections for looseness, corrosion, or damage, and perform a continuity test on the cables using a multimeter test each cable end-to-end (a beep or near-zero ohms indicates good continuity; no beep means a break), and check for shorts to ground. If you can't do this, try running temporary cables above ground directly from the control board to the motor, matching polarity. If the motor works fine, replace the original cables; if it still fails, it likely requires a replacement motor.

Kind regards

Prem
