I currently have a Hormann Promatic opener, but want to change this for a Chamberlain (full reasons below). Is this just a matter of swapping the operator, or is the rail/belt manufacturer-specific and would therefore need changing too?
Full story is I want to upgrade my circa 2004 Promatic to allow iPhone control, but staying with Hormann I'd need to spend £170 on their Wi-Fi bridge and also upgrade the operator to a newer version of the Promatic as my current one uses an older frequency that isn't used by their Wi-Fi bridge. It seems that just doing a straight swap-out to a Chamberlain system would be a cheaper solution with a better functioning app.
