Hello,
The control comes from the gate system itself i.e the automation control panel. This would supply a 12v command to the relay which causes the relay to drop in and out. the problem probably lies with the PSU. but sometimes a control panel can develop a fault and when triggered will not give the correct 12v. the cheapest option would be fitting a new PSU to see if that cures the problem as gate control panels tend to be £100 + depending on the make and model.
