It was the battery in the photocell TX/RX module on the wall. Just needed a new 3V battery (size C2).

hi Mr Robot... i think i have the same issue. I can't work out exactly where the battery is...

if you have battery photocells they will be on the RX side of the photocell set. you may have a hard wired system which would mean you do not have a battery photocell.
