Diatem SC100AU ERROR

Please can someone tell me how to find out how to decide if it is the handset or the box on the gate ,when I press gate open it comes up error also the voice communication is not working ,when I press the bell the handset rings but there is no sound .As far as I am aware it is mains powered.

I would most likely say this is a handset issue, but it is difficult to diagnose. You can try purchasing a handset and if this does not work, you can return it for an exchange.
