I Need Advice on Choosing the Right Automatic Gate System. - lizaclarraa - 26-11-2024 Hello there, I am in the process of upgrading the gate at my home and looking for advice on choosing the right automatic gate system. I have been researching various options but still feel uncertain about the best choice for my property. I am considering either a sliding or swinging gate; but I am leaning towards a sliding gate due to limited space at the entrance. My driveway is fairly standard in size, but I want to ensure that the system I choose can handle a heavier gate if I decide to go with something more substantial in the future. Security is a key concern for me; so I am particularly interested in systems with good locking mechanisms, remote access, and maybe even integration with smart home systems. I have read some reviews; but I would appreciate hearing from anyone who has experience with specific brands or systems. What do you recommend for a home of this size? Are there any features that are must haves for long term durability and security? Also; I have gone through this post; https://www.gateguide.co.uk/attachment.php?aid=79 which definitely helped me out a lot. Thanks in advance for your help and assistance. RE: I Need Advice on Choosing the Right Automatic Gate System. - bing - 02-12-2024 Hello, You should try the Beninca automated system, as it is a very reliable make which comes with two years of warranty. And if you purchase from https://natim.co.uk/ , we'll add an extra year to the warranty, resulting in 3 years of warranty on the automation system. Other brands you can consider are Roger Technologies and Fadini automated systems. Moreover, all three of these automation systems might be a bit expensive, but they are worth the pay as they are very good for long term durability and ensure better quality. Selecting stronger motors will ultimately lead to longer product life. Here's a more detailed explanation w.r.t the selecting the gate design and based on our experience with gate installations in driveways, similar to yours: Sliding gates are space-saving and come in two varieties: one with wheels on track and the other is a cantilever sliding gate. For a wheel on track, assuming the size of your entrance is 3 metres, then you need at least a minimum 6.3m space (which includes the 3m driveway entrance and 3.3m space behind your fencing) for the gate to be fully open. You'll also need 6.3m of footing for this gate. Cantilever gate - you need 8.5 metres space for the gate to be fully open. The sliding gate of this kind needs a 2.5m footing. Another sliding gate type is the Sliding telescopic gate. It's similar to a wheel on a track, but lets you save space since it's a 3-metre gate and only needs 2 more metres for full opening. In terms of sliding gate security, we can install an extra limiter to prevent lifting, whether the gate is open or closed. A swing gate might be a good option if you find the space and footing requirements for the sliding gate too much. And again for swing gates, we still recommend Beninca automation systems. Security - we can use electric drop bold which will be in operation at the same time as the gate. In addition mag lock for better security. All hinges - vandal protection. Another alternative to swing gates is the Bi-folding gate; both sides are bi-fold gates. Similar solution as swing gate, however, you will only need max 1m of the driveway for the gate to open. Below are images for your understanding: 1. Bi-folding gate with Beninca automation system - Closed 2.
