Nice MC424L "hold open" feature - bptra - 01-07-2019

Hello,

I have a Nice MC424L installed in Condominium mode.

It has 3 or more remote receivers(~100 remotes registered to it), and we've just added a GSM receiver - that's why Condominium was activated.

My issue with it is that it randomly remains opened and it cannot be easily closed.
I've tracked it down to using a remote and double clicking in the moment the gate is open(during the pause time).

I've read into it over the internet and it seams that I've hit the 'hold open' command, but unfortunately this is not documented in the manual https://www.niceforyou.com/sites/default/files/upload/manuals/idv0619a00en.pdf

The only way I found to close it back again, is by using a remote from the original(oldest) remote module installed.
Short of this, nothing can get it to close, no other remote and not the phone call.

The installation is done at a block of flats and I've yet to be able to track down the person that puts it in this mode
Can this behaviour be somehow disabled ? is it a bug(due to the many remote modules+gsm module) or a feature of the module ?

Many thanks!

Hi,

i dont believe it would be a fob that puts it into this mode and an actual board setting.

It may also be a possible intermittent cable issue firing the stop input hence why it is intermittent.

what LED are showing on your board?

Hello,

So I took a closer look today and have tried to reproduce the event:

Model: Nice MCA2( not MC424L, as previously stated) so this is the manual https://www.niceforyou.com/sites/default/files/upload/manuals/ist280r01.4858.pdf

Operation mode: Condominium - enabled, Automatic Closing - enabled, Close after photo -disabled

3 remote control modules installed:
- 1xthe one that comes in the computer slot - inital module - named (a)
- 2xFLOx2R - named (b,c)
- 1 GSM module (d)

t0: gate is closed
t1: gate receives the open command from any of the inputs (a ->d) - takes about 35s to open
t2: gate is opened - stays open for pause time - of 20s
t3: pause time expires
t4.1: LIGHT(gate light) start flashing 0.2-0.5s
t4.2: GATES stop moving - 45s till close
t5: gates are fully closed

The issue appears:
- if between the time that the LIGHT starts flashing(t4.1)
- and
- the gates start moving(t4.2)
- an open(remote click) command is sent from the (b,c) controllers
- the gate will stop moving
- remainin opened indefinitely as no other controller (b,c,d) can be used as they will only issue open commands(as they issue only OPEN command because of the Condominium setting).

This situation can only be solved:
- if one of the controllers on the initial module is used (a)
- which somehow still accepts just at this step the STEP-BY-STEP command
- this starts closing the gates.
The (a) module works in Condominium the rest of the time, it will only issue OPEN command, and never issue a STOP command.

So the conclusion is that something happens within the first second after the 'pause time' expires, and somehow sets resets the 'pause time' to infinite - looking like a STOP command.

As per your question @JoeF:

- i've checked, no cables are loose, doubled checked
- normally all the leds 1->5 are switched off, I understood this is a power saving feature, but couldn't find it in the book
- after any command 1,2,3 are on
- the OK led blinks once every 1s, and 3x quickly if a command is recieved
- when I issue a command between t4.1 and t4.2 the L5 led blinks once, and then stops, so all L1,2,3,5 are on

It all looks like a 'hold open' command, but one that is not in the manual.

Hope this sheds a bit more light.
Thanks a lot!

Hi,

its a strange issue.

do you have a manual push button for opening and closing or can you run fly leads to your PP/SBS and see if this works?
