Problem with Beninca R1.6E - TerryDorset - 29-03-2014 I have a Beninca R1.6E which has been playing up. A couple of years ago I disabled the "magic eyes" because a periodic malfunction was stopping the gate from closing. I did this with microswitch 4 in the control box. Recently they have been constantly clicking on and off, so I removed the covers and cleaned out all the spiders, live slugs and assorted other muck. Since then the gate won't work at all. I have checked the connections and all seems okay. Could there be a problem with one of the pcbs? Is there a way of permanently disabling them at the control box? Thanks in advance for any assistance. Terry RE: Problem with Beninca R1.6E - Blakey111 - 04-04-2014 Hi Terry, These are relay photocells which work with a 'normally closed' contact. In order for you to test whether it is definitely the photocells causing this issue, you can bypass them by linking out the 'NC & C' on the photocells or the corresponding contacts they have been wired into on the control panel. If your gates start operating then I would recommend that you replace the cells ensuring some level of safety on there. I discovered power wasn't getting to the controller so I replaced the fuse only for that one to blow in a cloud of smoke! I've had an engineer out who has diagnosed the transformer being shot. Could be worse - could have been the motor! ![]() Don't know if my cleaning the photocells has had any bearing on the problem or whether it's coincidence. I'll let you know the eventual outcome.
